GranQuartz has recently opened its third regional distribution center, located in Elk Grove Village, IL, northwest suburb of Chicago.  Combined with the other two distribution centers, located in Commerce, CA and Norcross, GA, the new 35,000 sq. ft. facility gives GranQuartz the ability to service 99% of the US population within 2 days.

Coupled with GranQuartz 10 other store locations, nearly 80% of the US population can be serviced next day on the majority of GranQuartz’s stocked items.  This facility includes a full GranQuartz store and sales counter located just 1 mile away from the previous store location, where it was located for over 15 years.  In support of the new distribution center, GranQuartz has invested in people, equipment, and technology making this location one of the best in the company.

Why does GranQuartz need a third distribution center?  GranQuartz is committed to improving the customer experience and overall service to its customer base.  After a review of every shipment from the prior two years, it was determined that dividing the country into 3 regions and having a fully stocked distribution center in each region was the best way to service the customer base.

In addition, GranQuartz spent the beginning of 2019 revamping the inventory levels in each of its store locations and shipping points to ensure that 95% of what the customers are buying is available within 1 day of their closest location.  There are some exceptions, such as larger material handling equipment, which will reside in the regional distribution centers or only the Norcross, GA location, but for the vast majority of the inventory can be depended on for faster lead-times on more items, shipped from fewer locations.  GranQuartz has committed and will continue to invest in itself to improve their overall value proposition and customer experience.

Braxton-Bragg Rolls Out Viper Nation Text Savings Club

Braxton-Bragg Rolls Out Viper Nation Text Savings Club

KNOXVILLE–October 3, 2018–Viper Nation is new text sales club for fabrication shop employees that offers exclusive pricing on tools, supplies and wearable merchandise.

“Viper Nation will reach employees that may not have access to email throughout the day with product discounts and wearables,” says Jeff Dykstra, Braxton-Bragg vice president of sales & marketing. “Emailed product information many times does not get to the employee who makes the purchasing decisions because they are in the shop, with little email access. We want to make sure these employees are in the loop, and then some.”

At sign up, Viper Nation members receive a free t-shirt and then receive a few texts per month on exclusive CNC and tooling discounts, as well as clothing deals.

“We are excited to expand our Braxton-Bragg customer base by reaching some new and valued members of the fabricator community and feel that Viper Nation will help us achieve this in a fun and informative way,” adds Dykstra.

Those wanting to be in Viper Nation should text the word Viper to 31996 to enroll. They should respond “yes” at the prompt, and fill out the form provided. Braxton-Bragg is also offering a Spanish version of Viper Nation. Text the word Vibora to 31996, and communication is in Spanish.

Rockheads Group Benchmark Meeting

The Rockheads Group (“RHG”), a private group of stone fabrication businesses, held its annual benchmarking meeting where over 60 individual members who represent more than 30 companies gathered in Portland, Oregon, to review and compare their financial statements. Members confidentially submitted their company financials to be utilized for benchmarking discussions with the purpose of learning from one another, sharing best practice standards and understanding their influence in the market within the two day event.

The sharing of priviledged data allowed members to analyze individual financial variables and provide their perspectives in each category in an effort to capitalize on areas of opportunity for their own businesses. Thanks to the culmination of data collected, the findings revealed RHG’s network represents the following within the stone fabrication industry:

  • Over $600M in sales per year
  • More than 3,400 employees
  • Over 1M square feet of manufacturing facilities
  • Over 8M square feet of stone fabricated and installed
  • $2,714 average job sold
  • Over $200k in installations per year

“Though we’ve hosted benchmarking meetings in the past, this year’s was particularly eye opening,” said Jon Kaplan, Managing Director of Rockheads Group. “There was a renewed sense of energy in the room. The review proved invaluable and made it clearer than ever that continuous knowledge sharing with other industry leaders will propel these companies forward in collective success.”

RHG member Precision Countertops opened the doors of their Wilsonville location to the Group, offering tours of their 12,000 square foot fabrication shop. During the visit, members took note of Precision Countertops’ methods in fabrication, opertations and administrative processes. After touring the vast facilities, meeting sponsors Granite Gold, Daltile, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Imagilux and Laser Products set the tone for collaboration among members by presenting valuable information during roundtable discussions on how to maximize RHG affliation.

During the conference, Marqet Group, an agency focused on providing marketing support for surfacing industry fabricators and manufacturers, unveiled new branding for the Rockheads Group. The launch created a synergy of assurance for the direction of the organization who will now host quarterly meetings, the next of which is in St. Louis, Missouri, in the fall.

The Rockheads, coined as the industries most influential stone and surfacing fabrication companies, continue to gain momentum across the United States and have recently added new members in Texas, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, New York and Hawaii. The Group is currently implementing an aggressive expansion plan and will continue focusing their marketing efforts through their collaboration with Marqet Group.
