To maintain Larry’s legacy, Rockheads will be starting an annual tradition — an award to recognize an outstanding individual within our organization. “The Larry Crowley Rockhead of the Year Honor” will be awarded each year to someone who demonstrates characteristics that Larry was known for, including courage, dedication, an innovative mindset, leadership, and care for others.
As Rockhead Founders, we would like to share the following tribute:
Larry Crowley should be celebrated for his legacy and the impact he made on the stone fabrication industry. When Larry entered the industry his business was named, Cutting Edge. In hindsight, that name was an accurate reflection of his contributions to stone fabrication and beyond. He was truly a pioneer that pushed people and companies to advance and evolve their business practices.
Larry’s inquisitive nature propelled his relentless pursuit for raising the bar and innovating our space. If your company has adopted new systems and processes over the last 5-7 years that have resulted in a positive impact on your business, there is a strong chance Larry Crowley’s fingerprints were on them in one form or another. Rockheads being one of them!
A quick look at Larry Crowley’s Contributions & Character:
As demonstrated by the creation of the Rockheads Group which was born at the C100 event in Mexico, if Larry had a vision for something, it was only a matter of time before it came to fruition. At the event, he was at the center of every conversation regarding comparing operational performance metrics and the challenges of our industry. His eager curiosity to continue conversations led to the official creation of the Rockheads Group USA. Larry quickly became a great friend to many and an industry thought leader.
If there was a way to find common ground between individuals, departments, or companies Larry was going to find it. In situations where most people would shy away, he had the courage to run right at them. No challenges were too big or too difficult for Larry.
Larry was a problem solver with the uncanny ability to boil down large problems into small pieces, and use the stepwise approach to a solution, often referred to as a “Short Putt.” A term he coined and many of us use often!
Larry was the walking definition of emotional intelligence before it become a common buzzword. He could read a room and the people in it like no one we have ever met before. And most importantly, he made others better with his positive attitude and contagious character.
The Power of a Smile
Larry validated the power of a smile. His enormous sense of humor as well as his radiant personality always made the room better when he was in it.
Most admirable was his genuine sense of humility. In a day and age where this character trait is seldom found in people because their egos are bigger than the room, Larry embraced and practiced humility daily. It was never beneath Larry to ask, seek and learn how to get better. He always displayed a lot of gratitude towards others and gave credit where credit was due.
The stone industry is better off because Larry was a part of it, he left a legacy that has impacted a lot of us in one form or another. He will truly be missed!
Larry’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Northside Baptist Church, 6000 38th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, Florida. Following the service, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the 1st floor of the City Hall in South Pasadena located at 7047 Sunset Drive S. All are welcome to attend.
We ask that you please keep Larry’s family in your prayers and do as Larry would do, look at things with the best attitude, always put a smile on, and touch as many people as you can.
